Why choose 48V track lighting over 230V/120V?
A 48V (SELV) track is safer to install and reconfigure — no electrician is required to move fixtures, and there is no shock risk during layout changes. It also lets you run longer continuous runs with less voltage drop and integrate low-voltage sensors. For retail fit-outs that change seasonally, 48V pays back in labour savings alone.
What CRI should retail lighting have?
Use CRI > 90 (ideally CRI 95 / R9 > 90 for reds) so merchandise shows true colour — apparel, cosmetics and fresh food look correct and premium. Below CRI 80, colours shift and products look cheap. We specify high-R9 chips for fashion and grocery clients.
Track lighting vs recessed — which for a shop?
What is magnetic track lighting and why is it trending?
Magnetic track lighting uses low-voltage (48V or 24V) rails with a magnetised channel: spotlights, linears and pendants snap on and off by hand. There is no wiring per fixture, so layouts change in seconds — the reason it dominates new retail, showroom and hospitality fit-outs. Add Casambi Bluetooth or DALI control and every head dims and scenes individually.
Track wins for flexibility: fixtures move as displays change, and one rail serves spots, floods and pendants. Recessed gives a cleaner ceiling but is fixed once installed. Most retailers use a 48V track for flexibility plus a few recessed accents for ambient fill.
Can commercial lighting be controlled by DALI or 0-10V?
Yes. Our 48V drivers support 0-10V as standard and DALI-2 on request, enabling scene control, daylight harvesting and energy reporting — useful for chains standardising store lighting across locations.
